Leave the World Behind

The world is a very loud place.

the barking of dogs

the humming of engines

the passing of cars

the sound of voices, music.

Always, the incessant rush of the world.

Wordsworth wrote:

“The world is too much with us; late and soon,

Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—

Little we see in Nature that is ours;

We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!”

Today, I chose to step out of the noise and into the woods.

This is the sound of silence

If the noise is seeping into your soul, you too can make a conscious choice to step away.

I invite you – challenge you – as a Christ follower or seeker to get alone somewhere where the sound of man is muted.

Listen to the voice of the Prince of Peace, the lover of your soul. Hear His invitation, maybe for the first time, saying:

“Arise, my darling; My beautiful one, come away with me!” Song of Solomon 2:10 (NET)
